3M visits E/D/E

The new Senior Vice President of the US technology group 3M, Alejandro Martinez, visited E/D/E together with other guests. Joint future prospects and solutions for the specific challenges of the market were the focus of the personal meeting on site.

Wuppertal – At the beginning of February, Dr. Christoph Grote, Managing Director and responsible for the areas of goods and sales, and Marco Spannagel, Head of Supplier, Product Group and Sales Concept Management Personal Protective Equipment & Technical Trade, from E/D/E welcomed the new overall responsibility of 3M, Alejandro Martinez, Senior Vice President – Global Industrial Channel at E/D/E. He was joined at the event by other representatives of the Safety & Industrial Channel from 3M: Piotr Mikłaszewicz, Director EMEA, Werner Kaelin, Director CER and Thomas Erdmann, Key Account Manager CER. Thomas Papajewski also took part as head of the Haberkorn Group’s international personal protective equipment portfolio management, thus representing the services and interests of the market side as a major 3M customer.

The face-to-face meeting on site focused on discussing joint growth potential and the fundamentals and challenges of the CER market, particularly in the areas of personal protective equipment and abrasives. Alejandro Martinez came to Germany for the first time in his new position. As 3M products are in particularly high demand from industrial companies, the guests were particularly interested in the modern dispensing machines at the eFabrik and the automated packaging machine in E/D/E logistics, which were presented during guided tours.
Marco Spannagel: “The current market situation presents us all with challenges. In these times, it is all the more important to consolidate strong partnerships such as the one between 3M, E/D/E and its members in the long term and to grow together.” The world’s largest manufacturer of PPE products, 3M, has been a leading partner for E/D/E and its members for 44 years, offering high product quality and innovative strength in the areas of personal protective equipment, abrasives, adhesive technology and welding technology.

Another focus of the exchange was the presentation of the new 3M strategy: the globally active US technology group is currently carrying out a consistent restructuring of its organization and is very keen to standardize and optimize processes throughout the entire organization. In this context, Alejandro Martinez has been responsible for the “Global industrial channel”, one of the five areas of the new 3M organization, for a few months now.
The participants will meet with the CER management for further discussions in the near future to work out the details of the cooperation.
